What is a heating element?

Heating elements are materials or devices that convert electrical energy directly into thermal energy through a principle called Joule heating. For conductive materials, less heat is generated because charge carriers flow easily through them, whereas for materials with high resistance, more heat is generated. The main function of the heating element in the application is to conduct heat and provide heat output to the product that needs to be heated, so that it can maintain stable application.

What are the raw materials of heaters?

The properties of the heater material narrow the choice to a few materials. The most common materials are white copper, brass and iron-chromium-aluminum alloys. These materials can work at high temperatures because they are resistant to high-temperature oxidation. There are three different raw materials on the outside: silicone rubber, PI and transparent material PET, each with different effects and functions.


What are the production processes of heaters?

In addition to raw materials, there are also differences in production processes, mainly winding and etching processes. The main difference between wirewrap and etched foil technology is that etched foil products do not use wire with a defined diameter to create the elements. Instead, etched foil heaters are made from thin foil of a specific metal alloy. Through a series of manufacturing processes, the foil is patterned and then etched to create conductive elements located across the entire surface area of the heater body. The etched foil pattern actually allows for tighter patterning of elements to meet the customer's wiring layout requirements on the heater.
